Here is our list of azaleas that grow well in San Antonio. Some of the azaleas can be used in the Hill Country without freeze damage. All of the azaleas need acid soil, so raised beds work great. Large pots put in the ground work well too. All azaleas need shade to survive in San Antonio. Under large trees, northside or eastside of the house is the best place to put them. Blueberry plants work the same way in San Antonio so you might want to make note of that. Cape fear is self pollinating and produces well in our area.
