Is there a Web site or any place I can find what each code means for resistance factor of a tomato plant? Also do you know where I can find Surefire tomato plants or seed? I've heard they were produces by Texas A&M for our climate.

The commonly used resistance codes used are V, F, N & T. These mean that the tomato is resistant to Verticillium wilt, Fusarium wilt, root knot Nematodes and Tobacco mosaic virus respectively. In an article written by Ted Fisher on disease resistance I found this: "Tomato transplants grown for retail sale should have a color tag displayed in the tray or flat that has several letters following the name of the variety. If you chose to buy seed, the seed packet or catalog listing should provide this kind of information on each variety. Take for example the tomato variety Carnival. It is VFNT resistant. The VFNT means that this variety is resistant to Verticillium wilt, fusarium wilt, root knot nematodes and tobacco mosaic virus. Any variety that has these four letters or any combination of these letters will be resistant to diseases indicated by the letters. Some varieties are resistant only to nematodes. In this case, they would carry only the letter N behind the name. Others are resistant to fusarium and Verticillium wilt and in this case both the F and V letters would appear." The Surefire (VF) tomato transplants should be available in your area. Seed can be purchased from these sources:
