QUESTION: What does a Black Widow spider look like and do we have them in Bexar County?

ANSWER: The images attached are of a Black Widow taken in southern Bexar county. This seems to be an adult female northern black widow spider which is shiny black with a row of red spots on the top of the abdomen along the midline. Two reddish triangles resembling a split hourglass are present on the underside of the abdomen. For more information, see: http://ohioline.osu.edu/hyg-fact/2000/2061A.html
